Jollity Farm

Between the first and second World Wars my relations sold produce from their farms through shops, a stall in the Guild Hall market and directly to homes around Derby City. This was a normal way of marketing farm produce. Sixty years on, what’s changed, well food grown and sold locally is not common place, but it’s seen as an ideal and common sense.
Starting in 2009 I will be growing organic produce for the Organic Pumpkin vegetable box on my own land, Jollity Farm, seven miles from Derby City. By 2010 most of the produce in the Organic Pumpkin box will be home grown.

You may have a garden or an allotment and enjoy growing your own food. But producing the quantity and variety to feed a family through the year needs more than time and energy. A glasshouse and extending the seasons with early and late crops will help. Or you could supplement what you’re growing.
The Organic Pumpkin seasonal vegetable box offers a variety of roots and greens including a winter salad. In the summer the box is mainly salad. Potatoes are only included if you ask for them, if you don’t like something we won’t put it in. The box price including delivery to your door is ten pounds, with payment by cheque to "Organic Pumpkin" on or before the delivery date.
The vegetables and soft fruits in the box come from farms across the East Midlands and Eastern Counties of England.
